Information About Alabama

Alabama was officially made a state in 1819 making it the 22nd admitted into the Union. Major cities include Montgomery, Birmingham and Mobile. In 2013 there were 342 recorded homicides, 13,389 assaults and 20,222 other violent offenses committed throughout the state. Also reported in 2013 were 4,513 robberies, 40,183 burglaries and 103,465 larcenies, although crime is trending downward.
